Requirements:
1. Certified Copy of Birth /Baptismal Certificate. Bring
original for authentication. (We requested this though NSO online. Papers were
delivered after three days…. So convenient :) )
2. Residence Certificates (We got this from our Barangay hall)
3. Parental Advice (21 yrs. – 25 yrs. old) – (My husband needed
this since he’s just 25 when we got married… :) )
4. Pre-Marriage Counseling (from DSWD and MHD) – (We needed to
attend a pre-marriage counseling together with several couples. A happily married
couple for 50 yrs I guess conducted the seminar. They discussed common problems
of husband and wife and how to handle every issue. I found this very helpful and
interesting since they shared real life stories. The seminar started at 8AM
until 11:30AM. We were too sleepy since we came from work that day, and we were
thinking if we can still attend the family planning seminar since we would be
hearing the same thing as discussed when we had our pre-Cana seminar. Well
ofcourse we know it would be kinda different since pre-Cana seminar is more on
natural family planning. What we did, we talked to the OIC of the seminar and
asked what would be the best thing to do. We told her that we came from work
and we already attended some family planning seminar. Our goal was to convince
her that we no longer need the seminar. But ofcourse it’s part of the
requirements for us to get our marriage license. Seminar will start at 1PM;
before that we took our chance and went to the seminar area to talk to the OIC
and luckily, she allowed us not to attend the seminar but what she did was she
had a one on one seminar with us. It took us 20 minutes (which is better and
favorable for us :) ) before she gave our clearance.
Then finally, we brought our clearances and requirements to the third floor of
city hall for the application of our license. After they checked our
requirements, we filled out the form and they gave us the date of release then
went home and rest… :)
5. Barangay Certificate (for Makati residents) – (We bought this
from our barangay hall)
6. NSO Certificate of No Record of Marriage for both parties - (We
requested this though NSO online together with our birth certificates)
Applying for our marriage license was
not that easy since our work is at night and we needed to sacrifice our
sleeping moment just to get the most important requirement for our wedding.
Marriage license expires after 120 days so we needed to fix this three weeks
before the wedding. This was the last requirement on our list. Weeks before we
applied to our marriage license, I did some research on the requirements and
where to go, because I made sure that it would be a one time big time application
and the only time we will go back is on the release date. Exactly ten days
after we applied, we got our marriage license and we needed to bring it to San
Antonio, Quezon the next weekend.
***Requirements done, but still we had
so much to do. 2 weeks left…
